The essentials to avoid making the wrong job move decision

If you're looking for a new job how do you stop yourself jumping from the frying pan into the fire by making the wrong decision?

For me, there are 4 key activities you can take to help the decision be a good one:

♦ Be confident about your values, skills and talents and how these are the foundation to finding fulfilling work

♦ Research jobs and sectors that you’ve never dreamed of working in before or ones you’ve never heard of, as well as those more familiar

♦ Get really clear about the type of work, sectors and organisations that suit you and just as importantly those that do not

♦ Create your focused plan for making the move you want and take a step forward every day

To really prevent you jumping from the frying pan into the fire though it helps to get clear on what would make a decision the wrong decision?

I’d suggest capturing, through writing and/or images, all the really positive and negative experiences you have had in your career to date, as well as how you want your new job to support and fit into your lifestyle.

Your reflections should help identify the core wants and don’t wants you can use as criteria to benchmark possible opportunities against.
