In ‘Blow Up’ (pictured), Ori Gersht presents a marriage of traditional art and photography’s capacity to freeze time with a high-speed camera. By freezing flowers in liquid nitrogen, he then blew the arrangements up, capturing an ‘uneasy beauty in destruction’.

Revelations: Experiments in Photography runs from 20 March – 13 September 2015, at the Science Museum, London. To book tickets, go to sciencemuseum.org.uk. After its run in London, it will also run at the National Media Museum in Bradford from 19 November – 7 February 2016
