How to Keep Sane During Lock-down

It’s been almost a year now since the first lockdown in the UK. One year later, restrictions are worse than ever and I can see that people are starting to lose their patience.

Most of the people I speak to are suffering from stress or depression and I keep hearing comments like: ‘what’s the point in living anymore?’.

I completely understand because I have felt like that. 2020 was one of the most difficult years of my life (and I bet for you too) and it has brought up the darkest part of myself.

But with big challenges come big opportunities to heal and grow.

Although I’m not happy about the world situation, I feel grateful for having had to work on myself at such a deep level. I’ve experienced a deep transformation in 2020 which probably wouldn’t have happened if it hadn’t been for these extreme circumstances.

2021 is still challenging, but I feel I’ve learnt many resources to deal with this situation and carry on with my life.

So in this article I want to share with you the main things that are keeping me sane during this never ending lockdown.

1.Having a sense of purpose.

When it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel, it is very difficult to stay motivated.

Our normal routines have been disrupted – no traveling, no group activities, no family gatherings, no hanging out with friends, no catch-up coffees with your favourite colleagues in the office… For almost a year!

So I know it can be very difficult to wake up and feel motivated to start the day with energy.

Identifying a strong reason to get out of bed in essential in times of crisis.

Focusing on my purpose (my coaching practice) gives me a reason to wake up every day. If anything, this situation made me step out of my comfort zone and work harder to help people in these difficult times.

Ask yourself this question every day: How can I be of service?

You don’t need to have a business for that, you could do some volunteering work, or just think how you can help your local community or your family.

You can find more about how to find your purpose in this article.

2.Staying away from mainstream media.

I gave away my TV 5 years ago and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

The fear based propaganda is something you want to stay away from if you want to have any sense of inner peace. Start watching the news and your fight or flight system will be turn on in less than 5 minutes!

Being in this state of alert for long periods of time is detrimental for our health and well-being, you can find out more about why and what to do about it in this article.

Anything that consistently puts you in a state of fear, anger or hopelessness is not in your highest interest.

Honestly people, turn the TV off, disconnect from Facebook for a while and enjoy your life!

3.Meditating.

Meditation has endless benefits for our health and well-being.

Sit in stillness for at least ten minutes a day and you will notice the difference.

I’ve made my meditation practice my priority because I know the days I don’t meditate I’m completely out of balance.

It helps me feel calm and grounded. It reduces my negative thoughts and mind clutter significantly. Practising gratitude changes my emotional state in minutes.

Try this visualisation technique or this simple mind training exercise for a week and see how different you feel!

4.Reinventing myself.

I have no idea when the restrictions are going to end or if they ever will.

I’ve stopped putting my life on hold to ‘wait and see if we will be able to travel next year’. I don’t think of when I will be able to see my family again and I don’t make plans trying to predict what the next quarter will be like.

I live in the here and now.

I make the most of every zoom call with my loved ones.

I’ve started new habits like crochet.

Don’t think about your old life and when it will be back, cause it will never be like it was before.

Don’t try to predict the future because you will be disappointed if it doesn’t meet your expectations.

Focus on what you can do now. I now there’s not much to do, so maybe this is a good time to go inside, get to know yourself better and work on yourself.

My daily life is completely different from what it was a year ago. I suffered so  much trying to put my life on hold until I would recover my ‘normal life’. Focusing on the present moment has helped reduce frustration and enjoy the little things.

5.Using my favourite well-being products.

I was involved in the testing of these products and I can say I have tried pretty much all the items they have and I have no words to describe how amazing they are.

These pieces of orgonite have different purposes and they have helped me so much in these challenging times.

Some of the things that have done for me include:

I know they have assisted my well-being and personal development through this journey like anything I had tried before, so I can’t recommend them highly enough.

I know that the world is crazy right now and it is very difficult to stay motivated, but know that you have all the resources you need inside yourself!

I hope this article gave you some ideas and I would love to read you in the comments.
