Review: Dukes Hotel, London
Emine Rushton reviews a London bolthole that goes the extra mile for women (and dogs)
As a woman who has had to travel extensively as part of the job, Iโve come to appreciate any extra thought that goes into understanding the needs of the solo traveller โ and the female solo traveller at that. Itโs no surprise then that Debrah Dhugga, managing director for Dukes Collection and one of only a handful of female MDs of five star properties, really gets it too.
Unshowily checked in and ushered up to my female traveller-focused ‘Duchess’ room by a female member of staff, where fresh flowers, a fruit bowl and Floris toiletries make for a welcome segway, away from the streets of bustling Christmas-lit London. I rest up, sleep well (the bed was one of the comfiest Iโve tried), and wake up with renewed purpose.
From Spring 2017, the hotel will also be unveiling an extensive refurbishment, in collaboration with Liberty โ whose fabrics are being used in the Duchess rooms. Thereโs even a VIP programme for pets, should you wish to let your four-legged friend tag along (from ยฃ25/night).
