Theatre review: The Worst Witch

Hello! My name is Emily and I’m eight years old. I love reading The Worst Witch books, written by Jill Murphy, so when I heard there was a Worst Witch theatre show opening in London, I jumped at the chance to go.

The story was a bit like a show within a show; it was written by Emma Reeves who wrote the recent TV adaptations. It was witty and exciting. From trapeze skills and puppetry to audience participation, the show had constant surprises.

Three of the actors on stage play all the music throughout and the rest of the cast bring the characters of Maud and Mildred and their school, Miss Cackles’ Academy for Witches, to life.

It was a truly spellbinding night out for children – and my parents enjoyed it too!

The Worst Witch is on at the Vaudeville Theatre, 404 Strand, Covent Garden, London WC2R 0NH  until 8th September 2019. Tickets available at www.nimaxtheatres.com
